4 Types of Christmas Greenery to Get You Started
The options for artificial greenery continue to expand, and they look more realistic than ever. With so many variations available, here are ways you can decorate with Christmas greenery to help you get started.
This post is about decorating with Christmas greenery.
Types of Artificial Christmas Greenery
1. Artificial Garlands
Faux garland is a versatile option for holiday decorating, with a wide variety of types available, such as pine, fir, cedar, eucalyptus, and more. When it comes to decorating a fireplace mantel for the holidays, garland is a popular choice as it provides a lush and full foundation for any design.
Adding additional stems to the garland enhances its beauty and brings a touch of freshness to the mantel, creating a charming and festive atmosphere. Therefore, it is no surprise that many people recommend using garland to decorate their fireplace mantel during the holiday season.
I used pine garland and added the cedar garland on top to give it a softer look. Both garlands had tiny pinecones attached, which added a touch of winter to the decoration. The next step was to add fairy lights, which gave it a glow before accessorizing it. It’s possible I broke the decorating rule by mixing a non-flocked garland with a flocked Christmas tree and wreath, but I really like the way it looks!
You can also use faux garland in a vase. I pushed the garland into the vase and fluffed it until I liked the look. This look is very sparse and perfect for our bedroom.
Another way to add faux garland is on a tablescape around candles or lanterns. Here is just one of many examples where I used garlands and tied them to make a wreath.
2. Artificial Wreaths
Decorating your home for the holidays is easy with faux wreaths. These wreaths come in various shades of green and can be hung indoors or outdoors. You can choose to buy fully decorated wreaths or decorate them yourself. With 3M hooks, hanging these wreaths is a simple process, and you won’t need to put a nail in your wall or door.
I transformed the look of my hallway by adding a flocked wreath on top of a piece of wall art. To create a soft and contrasting look, I added satin ribbon to the wreath. I attached the bow to the pinecone using push pins and hung the wreath on the tin using a 3M hook.
Did you notice the wall art beyond the wreath? It is from a company called Lindsay Letters. This is one of my favorite things to put out for the holidays.
How about adding a wreath to your window? You can use a ribbon to hang it from the molding or use a suction cup hook. After hanging the wreath, you can add a little silk ribbon for an extra decorative touch. This will give your window a lovely touch of greenery.
3. Faux Plants
I bought a faux paperwhite plant insert from Rainsford Company, which can be added to any pot. It adds height and greens to my small entry cabinet in a realistic and pretty way.
Other faux varieties that look great during the holidays are poinsettias, orchids, ferns, and rosemary.
4. Faux Green Picks
Picks are great fillers for vases, pots, baskets, trees, garlands, and wreaths. There is an all-around favorite, and I used them in my tree this year, as well as vases. You can use a cluster of stems tied together on a coffee table, which is such an inexpensive, beautiful option to add to any space.
I hope these four types of artificial Christmas greenery inspired your holiday decorating ideas. There are so many beautiful options, so you really should consider incorporating faux greenery into your home decor for that easy festive touch.
