Christmas Winter Theme with Vintage Charm
This winter-themed Christmas decor includes vintage touches such as velvet, bells, and beautiful artwork, offering numerous ideas to try in your home. Welcome to my festive home tour!
Vintage Winter Theme Decor
My original plan was to include more blue and white in a winter wonderland theme. After receiving my digital prints from North Prints Art Collective, this idea took a vintage turn.
It happens sometimes. I think I will be moving forward one way, and a decor piece turns me in another direction. So, as a last-minute choice, I added brown velvet ribbons, vintage bells, and a few copper pieces from around my home.
Entryway Holiday Decor
I made a few minor changes to the entry table decor to give it a Christmas-winter feeling. It started with replacing the stems with faux cedar and pine. Then, I added a vintage winter print and updated the basket with a pretty cable-knit throw.
My sister bought me a candle from Target as a thank-you gift for looking after her dog, Bayley, during one of her trips. Target’s affordable decor options are amazing, but living in Canada, I don’t get many opportunities to visit their stores. I really appreciated the Christmas candle!
Bayley actually hung out with us as I was decorating the Christmas tree. How can you not love that face?
Usually, I add velvet and Christmas pillows. In this design, I left the existing blue and grey pillows on my couch and bench because they are one of my favorite pillow covers. Combining them with the gingham and off-white finds from Home Sense gave a cozy and comfortable feel.
The bench in our small living room is complemented by art prints on the wall. This creates an additional winter look for Christmas in our open-concept living area.
A Christmas Living Room
Our living room decorating started with the electric fireplace mantel. The artwork from Collection Prints turned out beautiful. I decided to add a flocked garland to match the Christmas tree and keep the winter theme.
My favorite part of decorating the fireplace was the addition of the Christmas bells. I turned these from gold to a vintage-inspired look with an easy DIY.
From there, I used candlesticks and added new wooden Christmas trees from Amazon.
Winter Themed Christmas Tree
I decorated our existing flocked tree with white, clear, and antique ornaments I had on hand. Instead of garland, I added brown velvet ribbon tied sporadically around the tree for contrast.
The clear glass icicles and a few unique ornaments were added last. I used white berry stems to give the tree a topper since my antique star did not fit as planned. When something doesn’t work out, trying something new is always fun!
Christmas Winter Theme Dining Room
I have used a pair of stacked art pieces in our dining room since we finished renovating it. However, I recently decided to switch things up. Instead of the old pieces, I opted for more significant, single vintage art prints and put them in brown frames.
These new prints add a lovely vintage touch to our dining room decor. I also placed a small flocked tree on a tree stump side table, which looks perfect underneath the prints.
Because we didn’t have an extra flocked garland for the table, I used Norwick stems that I purchased from Decorators Warehouse instead. I layered them on a white runner that I had on hand to keep it simple. Additionally, I added wooden and ceramic trees and two candlesticks to complete the look.
The gold chargers I wanted this year didn’t happen. I was too late to purchase them. As a result, I decided to use white dishware, clear glasses, and our everyday silverware without any placemat. I added an antique bell on each place setting to bring in the same color pallet and style as the living room. Adding a bow with velvet ribbon gave it the final touch. So pretty!
Christmas Winter Theme Bedroom
During the holiday season, I have kept the same wreath above my bed for the past two years. It happened again this year but with a white bow. I placed three green ceramic trees stacked on a book on the nightstand to give it a holiday feel.
Adding green vintage ornaments, a vintage art print, vintage bells with white bows, and changing out the stems completely changed the look of the dresser.
We decided to keep it minimal this year and did not decorate the rest of the house. It was primarily due to time and where we wanted to spend it. Also, we were in the middle of updating a few rooms.
My favorite part of this Christmas home tour is the living area. In a small home, seeing the Christmas lights when you open the front door makes the whole living space feel calm and beautiful.
