Classy Fall Home Decor Ideas
These beautiful and elegant finds will dress up your home decor for fall with natural elements and a neutral color palette. You know, I love me some good neutrals. So, if you are shopping for something new, let’s start fall decorating with these simple steps and the best fall seasonal decor options.
1. Neutral Color Palette with Warm Accents
You can choose a more muted color palette for classy fall decor ideas rather than the usual bright oranges and deep reds.
Shades of cream, beige, soft brown, and ivory can create a cozy base. Then you can add fall accents in warm golds, burnt sienna, and muted terracotta. This will give your space a sophisticated and seasonal feel without being overwhelming.
You can bring in these colors through velvet throw pillows, knit throw blankets, candle holders, and decorative vases filled with faux stems. Using neutral fall decor is one of my favorite ways to decorate for this season, and these are some of my favorite classy fall decor ideas.
2. Layered Textures for a Cozy Elegance
As we head into fall, let’s focus on creating a cozy and classy atmosphere by layering different textures.
Fabrics such as cashmere, wool, faux fur, linen, and velvet add depth to your space without making it feel cluttered. To elevate the overall look, add a neutral-colored throw to your sofa, a velvet cushion to your favorite chair, or a beautiful blanket across your bed.
Try to stick to a cohesive color scheme. Mix materials like wool and metallic accents to create a balanced and rich feel. I absolutely love antique brass. I purchased the small trinket tray below, which is the perfect addition to the autumn season. Yet, I know I will be using it all year round. You can place it on any flat surface or add it to a stack of books for a beautiful look.
3. Elegant Candles and Lanterns
Replace candles with elegant options, such as pillar candles in pretty holders or groupings of lanterns for a warm, seasonal glow.
Flameless LED candles have come a long way and are a beautiful and safe choice. When picking scented candles, you may like some of my favorites, such as vanilla apple, apple cider, or pumpkin spice, to help you get into the fall mood.
Place lanterns on your front porch, entryway, or fireplace mantel at different heights. Brass or glass lanterns with sleek lines can give a more polished look. Pleated candles are beautiful in lanterns or on their own. Although this one is expensive in Canada, I always keep my eye out at stores like Home Sense for this type of look.
4. Seasonal Wreaths and Garlands
Consider choosing a more subtle fall wreath and garland to get that elegant look when it comes to fall decorations.
Instead of the usual bright orange and pumpkins, eucalyptus, olive branches, or preserved or faux magnolia leaves are a great way to add a more natural feel. For a simple yet festive touch, you can also drape a seasonal garland of dried greenery or delicate faux branches along your mantle or across your dining table to incorporate some classy fall decor ideas.
I personally love the natural look of a grapevine wreath with added brown and taupe magnolia leaves. It would look beautiful on the front door!
5. Sophisticated Centrepieces
Organic elements like wood accents and glass will refine your coffee and dining room table centerpieces.
Try adding a wooden tray, a clear vase filled with acorns or pinecones, or matte-finished pumpkins in neutral tones. Metallic touches like gold or brass will also keep things looking sophisticated.
Use glass cloches to display seasonal decorative items like mini pumpkins, dried florals, or a small fall-themed vignette. I love the scalloped edge of the mango wood bowl. It would look great on any surface and can be used as a fruit bowl or for fall decor.
The warm brown and burnt finishes below are the perfect fall colors. Incorporate them with warmer tones on your entry table, or start decorating those shelves you have meant to get to.
6. Luxury Throw Blankets and Pillows
Are you looking to make your living spaces extra cozy? An easy way to do this is to add luxurious throws and pillows in rich fall fabrics!
I like a mix of fabrics and yarns, such as wool, cashmere, and faux fur, in soft beiges, browns, and burgundies. Little touches, like throw blankets with fringe details or pretty patterns, make all the difference.
7. Natural Elements in Subtle Displays
Incorporate natural elements like pinecones, branches, and dried flowers into your decor to bring the outdoors in.
Instead of overly rustic displays, go for a more subtle arrangement. A clear vase with dried fall flowers, a wooden bowl filled with acorns or neutral colored pumpkins, or a small tray with a few pinecones can give you that fall feeling with sophistication.
8. Statement Artwork
Consider swapping your usual artwork for pieces that capture the essence of fall.
A beautiful autumn landscape or some cozy vintage art prints in warm colors can instantly give your space a seasonal makeover. You might also want to try out some elegant wall hangings made of natural materials like linen to add a subtle touch of the season without going overboard.
Just pick one or two standout pieces that really speak to you, and make sure they complement your current decor to create a harmonious look.
9. Minimalist Pumpkins & Gourds
Pumpkins and gourds are fall staples, but instead of bright orange and funny shapes, look for white pumpkins or even beige or pastel-colored. This change is part of incorporating classy fall decor ideas.
Faux velvet or glass pumpkins are beautiful additions to fall decor. I also found some natural grass pumpkins with wood stems at Home Sense, so keep your eye out. When the season starts, you can find these just about everywhere.
Use these faux pumpkins sparingly as seasonal accents on shelves, mantles, or your entryway table for a simple fall touch.
10. Gold and Brass Accents
Warm metallics like gold, brass, and copper bring a luxury feel to any fall decor.
Incorporate these metals through small accessories like candle holders, picture frames, or decorative trays. Their warm glow complements the earthy tones of fall and adds a polished finish to your overall room. You will always see brass candlesticks in my home for the fall season.
Another idea, if you want to take it up a level, is to swap out your kitchen utensils with gold or brass options for an easy fall refresh. Love this look, don’t you?
