Thinlicious inspired this Low Carb Air Fryer Chicken Tenders recipe.
I have been making homemade chicken tenders (or what we used to call chicken fingers!) for years. It is simple and easy, and the whole family loves them. What’s great about chicken tenders is that they can be served with various sides.
In my attempt to transition to a low-carb lifestyle, I was looking for a recipe for chicken tenders that would offer us the same taste without the unwanted carbs. It was important that the recipe would satisfy both my husband’s and my taste.
So, I found this recipe that ticked all the boxes, and let me tell you, it is perfect! The chicken tenders are crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside, and the flavor is delicious.
What Makes this Recipe Low Carb?
These Keto air fryer chicken tenders combine Pork Rinse Crumbs and Almond Flour, resulting in a low-carb alternative to traditional panko breadcrumbs. Using this substitute, you can reduce your carb intake while enjoying the same texture and flavor in your dishes.
The Simple Ingredients You’ll Need
What brand is best when choosing pork rind crumbs?
Pork Rind Crumbs Options
I have only purchased one brand from Amazon, which is no longer available. It was the Pork Panko brand. From what I can tell, they are not easy to find.
Otherwise, I have heard you can use crushed fried pork rinds by purchasing them whole and crushing them yourself.Â
Taste & Flavor
- Once you take them out of the fryer, these chicken tenders will be crispy.
- The Parmesan cheese significantly enhanced the dish’s flavor. Although the recipe called for finely grated cheese, I only had shredded.
- Although these tenders can be enjoyed with a dipping sauce, they are just as delicious.
How to Make these Keto Air Fryer Chicken Tenders
- Cut chicken breasts into thin strips and pat dry with a paper towel
- Whisk together eggs and Dijon mustard in a small bowl
- Mix pork rinds, cheese, almond flour, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and paper in a shallow bowl.
- Each piece of chicken can be coated with egg wash, then crumb mixture.
- Spray chicken pieces and the bottom of the air fryer basket with avocado oil in a single layer
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Tips from Making this Recipe:
- If you are making the recipe for two people instead of four, you can easily cut it in half.
- Try chicken nuggets instead of strips
- Although the recipe called for finely grated cheese, I only had shredded. This was fine, but next time, I will ensure the finely grated cheese is on hand as recommended in the recipe.
- When dipping into the egg mixture, let it drip off slightly to avoid the coating getting soggy.
- You can use olive oil spray instead of avocado oil (all I had on hand and it worked).

What to serve with Keto Air Fryer Chicken Tenders
Remember to select your dipping sauce for a healthy and delicious meal of air-fried chicken tenders. You can choose from hot sauce, honey mustard, BBQ sauce, or any other flavor you prefer.
Consider pairing your chicken tenders with a side salad to keep your meal low-carb. You can add some leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers for some extra crunch and flavor.
Another low-carb option is sweet potatoes, which can be roasted or baked until soft and tender. Try cauliflower rice if you’re looking for an alternative to traditional rice. It’s a great low-carb option that’s packed with nutrients and flavor.
The chicken was juicy and flavorful, making it a perfect choice for a healthy meal. My husband and I found it a delicious meal and would make it again.
