Baking cookies was a regular occurrence at my grandparent’s and my parent’s homes. We rarely would have store-bought cookies (maybe an Oreo now and again). I remember the smell of homemade cookies baking in the oven. My sister, brother, and I would stand next to the cupboard staring at them until they were cool enough to take that first bite.
In this recipe, you will work separately with wet and dry ingredients before mixing them. I recommend using a hand mixer or a stand mixer. Once you beat together the wet and dry ingredients, the last thing to add is the chocolate chips. You can use a spatula to fold in this main ingredient. I prefer semi-sweet chocolate chips; you can also use dark chocolate or milk chocolate.
Hershey’s chocolate chips have the leading role in this recipe, but the crisp golden texture makes it one of the best chocolate chip recipes. You can also add nuts as an optional ingredient; however, I chose to stay with a classic chocolate chip cookie this time.

These cookies make a great dessert or mid-day snack. Have them with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee or tea. The recipe makes a lot of cookies so you can give a gift to family or friends. You can also put them in the freezer and take a few out at a time.

I hope you enjoyed this treasure from my family recipe journal.
Hi Cheryl, Terri from Myrtle Beach, SC. Didyou possibly make a typo in this recipe and mean 2 cups of flour and not 1? I made them tonight and they came out tasty but thin, crispy and melted looking. I put half the mixture in fridge and may add some flour to it. Lol, they’re still eating them though!
Oh my gosh, Terri, I feel terrible about this.
Yes, it should be 2 cups of flour. I have fixed the recipe snippet and thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.
