Every summer, I make it a point to plant containers of lavender. Lavender is one of my favorite plants, not just because of its beautiful purple color but also because of its soothing fragrance and medicinal properties.
The muted shade of the lavender flowers is particularly appealing to me, and I love how the plants grow tall and bushy. Lavender is easy to grow and care for, and it adds a touch of elegance to any space. Whether in my garden or on my patio, the sight and scent of lavender never fails to lift my mood.

There are a variety of ways you can use lavender essential oil to clean and freshen your home.
- In a spray bottle, combine lavender oil with water to create a homemade air freshener. Spritz your linen closet, mattress, or the air to enjoy the aroma
- Add one or two drops to the inside of the toilet paper roll for a fresh scent.
- Make a floor deodorizer with eight drops of lavender oil and a half-cup of baking soda. Sprinkle the mixture on your carpet, and then vacuum.
- Add 4-5 drops of essential oil to a dryer ball when drying bed linens and towels
- Skip the chemical sprays for your bathroom and deodorize the room with a spray bottle. Lavender has antibacterial, antibiotic, antiviral, and antiseptic properties.
- Add lavender to your dish soap for aromatherapy benefits and antibacterial properties.
- Floor polishes can often contain chemicals. Add lavender to your cleaning system, and your wood floor will shine!
- If you have a potpourri that no longer has a scent, try refreshing it with a few drops of lavender essential oil
- Use an essential oil diffuser to bring a calming aroma into your bedroom, improving sleep quality.
- Add 4-5 drops of essential oil to a cotton ball and throw it in your garbage can for a prettier scent.

- Add four drops of lavender and 1 cup of Epsom salt to a bath for a spa experience.
- Add a few drops of lavender oil to your massage oil to help you unwind with a neck or back aromatherapy massage.
- Diffuse when you start feeling overwhelmed to calm your mind and body; it promotes stress relief.
- Lavender repels Insects, as they don’t like the smell of lavender. A topical application of lavender can soothe bug bites, skin irritations, itching, and inflammation. Combine it with a carrier oil before applying it to your skin.
- If you are suffering from a cold or the flu, add 4-6 drops to a bowl of hot water and place a towel over your head. Inhale the vapor slowly and deeply.
- Rather than digging out a splinter, add a few drops of lavender, let the splinter swell, and slip out.
- Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, lavender can calm sinuses, allergies, and other respiratory issues. Apply it to the back of your neck, chest, and between your eyes.
