Top 15 Winter Activities To Look Forward To
Winter can feel like an endless season for some of us. However, there are ways to make the most of it by finding something to look forward to. If you’re not sure what to do, here are the top 15 activities you can try this season.
A Winter Activities List: Things to Do This Winter
Creating a list of things to do during a particular season can be an enjoyable activity. You should only include things that you are genuinely interested in doing so that you can look forward to doing them.
Here are fifteen of my top suggestions for things to do during winter. Remember to include activities that interest you so you can feel a sense of accomplishment when you check them off your list at the end of the season.
1. Make Homemade Hot Chocolate
When people imagine a chilly winter day, they often crave hot chocolate. If you’re searching for an easy and tasty homemade hot chocolate recipe, I came across a few you might like. Our favorite way to keep our hot chocolate warm is to use the famous Yeti Rambler. I think everyone in my family has one.

2. Keep a gratitude journal
Keeping a gratitude journal has been a practice of mine for many years. It starts and ends your day on a positive note, and you tend to be more mindful of the things you are grateful for throughout your day.
I have been enjoying The 5-Minute Journal. It only takes a few minutes out of your day, and the results are amazing.

Take some time to plan a winter getaway with your loved ones and spend a night at a cozy cabin or winter retreat. Whether you enjoy looking out the window and admiring an icy lake or retreating at a spa by a cozy fire, a long winter weekend is always something to look forward to.
5. Make homemade chili this winter
My sister makes the best chili. I have pinned some amazing chili recipes on Pinterest, which I also enjoy making. I could eat chili every day. It is one of my favorite meals in the winter. And as a bonus, my sweet cornbread recipe goes perfectly with a good chili.

6. Relax at a spa
Whether you have an hour or a full day to spare, visiting a spa during winter is an excellent way to boost your mood on a chilly day.
There’s nothing quite like being pampered with a massage, facial, manicure, or pedicure. Alternatively, you can also create a spa day at home and treat yourself to an at-home mani/pedi.
7. Have a cup of tea
I used to have the occasional black tea with my mom or grandmother, but I never drank tea at home. However, now we have a variety of tea in our house due to its numerous health benefits.
It’s a lovely warm beverage for the winter season, and one of my favorites is Traditional Medicinals Organic Tea. There are many blends available to try.

8. Host a family game night
We enjoy playing games, be it cards, a new favorite, or the latest vintage game we picked up on Amazon.
It’s always a fun night with the family, no matter our choice. It doesn’t require a large group or a lot of effort. Spending time indoors on a cozy winter day with loved ones is one of the best things to do in the winter.

9. Try a new restaurant
When you come across a restaurant that you love, it’s natural to keep returning to it because you know the food is excellent and it feels comfortable.
Why not try out a new restaurant this winter? You could make it a special date night or get some take-out and share it with a friend. You never know, you may end up discovering some fantastic food that you would have otherwise missed out on.
10. Bake a homemade treat
I would bake more if I had more time. Baking is a hobby passed down from generations of women in our family that left us so many recipes to try. I have posted a few of these favorites on my blog.

11. Do a puzzle
Do you know anyone who enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles or playing with Lego? My grandmother was a big fan of puzzles, and it seems like this hobby is still popular today.
Winter is the perfect time to snuggle up and work on a puzzle or Lego challenge. Lego has expanded its brand and now offers a wide variety of puzzles for both adults and kids.

12. Read a book
Curling up with a good book on the couch or in front of a fireplace is a great way to enjoy the winter months. If you don’t like reading or prefer multi-tasking, Amazon Audible is another way to take in the latest books while you are doing other things.
Amazon gives a 30-day free trial of Audible, and you can cancel at any time. You can even pause your membership, which I have done before. It is very convenient.

13. Hike a winter trail
I enjoy taking walks outside, but during winter, it can be risky to walk on the icy sidewalks and roads around the neighborhood.
Fortunately, we have some walking trails nearby that I can use. We can just wear snow boots and go for a walk on these trails to get some fresh air. It’s always exciting to dress up warmly and explore nature around the trails.
14. Soak in a hot tub
It seems like everyone in my family has a hot tub but us. My brother and sister have hot tubs at their homes, and my son just purchased one. They really enjoy using a hot tub in the winter.
I had the chance to experience an outdoor hot tub in winter during a cabin stay, and it was an incredibly relaxing and amazing experience. I highly recommend it and believe it should be included in your things to do this winter.
15. Take pictures in winter
Last but not least, make sure to pull out your camera or smartphone and capture the beauty of winter.
Whether it’s a snow-filled landscape, an icy lake, wild animals, or your loved ones, take a quick snapshot to create lasting memories.
