Amazing Small Entryway Makeover Before and After
If you want to make your entryway more functional and inviting, these 5 tips can help you achieve that! I’ve pulled together some great ideas from our small entryway makeover that give the illusion of more space while still being practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Even if you have a small living space and your entryway shares the same space as your living area, I’m here to help you with some simple ideas for a small entryway makeover that will make your space functional, beautiful, and welcoming to you and your guests.
Once all the furniture was removed from the home after we purchased it, I knew there had to be a better way to flow the traffic from the front door into our home. Finding additional storage and convenient ways to keep things tidy in such a small entryway was at the top of my to-do list.
As you will see in the upcoming before and after photos, I’ll demonstrate how to make a small entryway look bigger by simply rearranging the furniture.
This post is about a small entryway makeover.
Our Small Entryway Makeover
Designing a functional room within a limited space can be challenging. However, with these helpful tips, you can create an entryway you’ll love and take care of the essentials.
1. Entryway Area Rugs
By adding an area rug to your small entryway, you can not only create a designated space for removing your footwear but also enhance the welcoming ambiance of your entrance. Opting for outdoor area rugs will provide durability; however, numerous washable area rugs are beautiful and can be easily refreshed using a washing machine and dryer. We decided to purchase a neutral outdoor rug for our entryway. There are so many options available with pretty designs and colors. You can instantly change the look of a space by updating your area rug.
2. Organized Entry Closet
If you have a closet inside your entryway, an organized closet is a practical solution to store seasonal jackets, coats, shoes, and other accessories. It can also provide a clean and well-lit space for guests to hang their coats. We opted for Benjamin Moore Simply White paint, also used for our interior doors and trim. The closet makeover was simple and affordable, involving new hangers, baskets, and shoe storage.
3. Entry Cabinet or Console Table
We needed a place to keep our keys and other personal items, so we constructed an entry cabinet that fit the small entryway perfectly. It not only serves a practical purpose but also adds another decorative element to our living room. If you’re looking for affordable console table ideas, you can find them here. I also added a large clock, a white jar with eucalyptus leaves, and this large wicker basket for extra storage.
4. Extra Storage
When we moved in, one of our purchases was this inexpensive wicker bench that gave our living room a soft cottage look. Although this is not next to our front door, the makeover included this wall as it feels like part of our entryway. We’ve added some pillows and a blanket to give it a casual feel, and guests have used it for extra seating. It even serves as additional seating at the kid’s table during holiday dinners. The wicker storage is perfect for storing seasonal items like winter hats, gloves, and scarves, which have held up well since they are only used infrequently.
5. Update the Lighting
We were looking to update our living space without spending too much money. Functional and affordable, lighting updates can work wonders. Whether you’re after new overhead lighting, closet lighting, or a table lamp, a simple change in lighting can transform the look and feel of your room. We updated two overhead lights in our front entrance, which gave it a completely different look.
Final Touches
Try adding some fun accessories to your front entrance to create a unique and beautiful design that’s both stylish and functional. It’s always great to experiment and find new ways to refresh your home.

I love the wall clock where can I purchase it? Thanks
Thanks, Sue. I purchased it at a local home decor shop called Wheaton’s a couple of years ago. It is currently unavailable, but I found a link to an oversized wall clock with a similar feel in case that helps.
