Holiday Shopping at Masstown Market
We travel to Nova Scotia during the holiday season and stop at a well-known market just off Exit 12 on the Trans-Canada Highway 104. I love all things related to holidays, and this one is special. This is when their annual Christmas Boutique is open, which means holiday shopping at Masstown Market is always a fun first stop.
There is a lot to see within the main market, lighthouse, butcher shop, and creamery. You can find a map of the local landmark here. We always start at the primary market, which offers many unique products, clothing, home items, and gifts.
Masstown Main Market
On the other side of this beautiful area is a market with all things fresh & local. What a fantastic offering of fruits & vegetables. Don’t these pictures make you want to browse & shop? I always check out the in-season goodness every time we stop.
They have a separate bakery, restaurant, and dairy bar within the primary market- hello, ice cream! The market’s restaurant offers homestyle cooking with dine-in or takeaway options. You can find their menu here. The bakery is one of my favorites. If I haven’t mentioned before, I have a sweet tooth. Their donuts have been an all-time favorite of my family. I remember stopping at Masstown Market with my parents and grandparents. We never missed a stop at their bakery for sweet treats. It definitely, gives you a taste of home.
Masstown Lighthouse
Beyond the market is the Masstown Lighthouse. You can visit the lighthouse floors, and on the first floor, they have a fish market offering fresh local fish from the Bay of Fundy & Atlantic waters. I could eat fresh fish every day; there is no better protein, in my opinion!
They open the Catch of the Bay Fish & Chip Boat in May, which is always something to look forward to. You can find their website here.
Masstown Creamery & Butcher Shop
We then headed across the road to the Masstown Creamery & Bucher Shop. This is also where they showcase their Christmas Boutique.
You feel an abundance of holiday spirit when you walk in the doors! The staff is so friendly, and their offering was diverse and unique, with a wide array of color options.
This showcase was one of my favorites, with more of a neutral Christmas color palette!

I stopped at every display, would you? I can’t help it; I turn everything over…who doesn’t love all things Christmas!
Look at this nutcracker! There was so much selection, including holiday decorations, gifts, and treats!
And then you run into these, YUM! That is the only word I can think of right now!
Masstown Creamery
On one side of the building is the Masstown Creamery. I did not know this until recently, but this creamery processes milk from local dairy farms into bottled milk, cream, eggnog, cheese, butter, and cheese curds. You can watch the procedures on-site through a viewing window. That is amazing! You can find their website here.
Masstown Butcher Shop
On the other side is the butcher shop, where they source local beef, pork, poultry, and lamb. They carry a wide assortment of spices, cookware, and kitchen supplies.
I have been stopping at Masstown Market since I was a little girl. I love that it has been a family-owned business for over 50 years and they support other local businesses. Holiday shopping at Masstown Market has been an amazing experience, but you will get that no matter the season. Next time you are in the area, don’t forget to stop by and visit the Masstown Market.
