An Affordable Way to Transform Prints into Paintings
If you want to achieve the look of a painting while still enjoying the affordability of printing your art, this guide will show you how to create a print that looks like a painting with quality results.
This post is about how to make a print look like a painting.
One of my favorite ways to switch up the decor each season is using printable wall art. It’s an affordable way to give your space a fresh look without breaking the bank.
Depending on where my print is located, I have not always liked the glare of the glass on some affordable picture frames. It can affect the photo’s quality and the beauty in the design.
I came across this idea on YouTube and decided to try it for myself. Because it turned out so well, I wanted to share it with you so you can use this technique in your own home. If you want to check out the YouTube Tutorial, please click here.

How to Make a Print Look Like Painting
Step 1:
Lay your digital print on a flat surface. I chose to put parchment paper underneath the photo so as not to get on our table.
Step 2:
To make your print look like a painting, pour the Modge Podge onto a paper plate and dip your brush into it. Use enough Modge Podge to make thick brush strokes that will be visible once it dries. Start creating brush strokes on the image, following any existing brush strokes within the print, or using your imagination to determine which direction the brush strokes should go in the painting.
Step 3:
Continue painting with brushstrokes until the photo is fully covered. The Modge Podge will dry clear. Allow it to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Step 4:
Once the photo is dry, you can insert it into your picture frame without using the glass. If you are using a mat within your frame, you can add a small piece of tape to hold your photo in place. At this point, the transformation is complete, and you will see how the print has transformed into the look of a painting.
Step 5:
Style your new masterpiece and enjoy the added quality to your print.
