Organizing Under the Kitchen Sink
When reorganizing your kitchen cupboards, organizing under the kitchen sink is an area that will give you the most satisfaction and motivation to keep going. It is an excellent place to start, a place where clutter tends to creep up on us quickly.

This project took less than an hour. The longest part was done prior, determining what storage to use in the area. I had most of these storage bins around the house from previous purchases.
Organize Under the Kitchen Sink
1. Remove & Clean
You want everything removed from the area so you can see what you are working with. As you remove things from the cabinet, toss away anything that has expired, is worn, or is no longer used.
Now it’s time to wipe everything down. Get in around the pipes and wipe down the doors. You can choose to lay a large mat or cabinet liner at this point if needed.
2. Measure
To move to the next step, storage containers, you will need to know how much space you are working with. Consider the width and height since there are pipes and other things you may have to work around.
3. Categorize
Group like items together to determine how much storage you need—only store products under the kitchen sink used in the kitchen. For example, cleaning products for the bathroom should be kept in the bathroom and will free up space under the sink.
The categories I used:
- Dishing washing & cleaners (dish soap, everyday cleaner, dishwashing pods, dishwasher cleaner, dishwasher rinse)
- Sponges, scouring pads, and paper towels
- Compost Bin
- Indoor plant care
- Catch-all (scrapers, plugs, oven cleaner)
4. Organize
Find storage ideas that work for your space. Plastic or acrylic bins, containers, shelves, lazy susan, hangers, hooks, acrylic drawers, compost bins, and paper towel holders.
