Benefits of an Organized Kitchen
1. Saves Time
Start by decluttering and being honest about what you use and want to keep. Take the next step and donate or throw out things you no longer use or that need replacing. Once you organize your kitchen, you will no longer search for the missing cover, or where you stored the platter you used last year.
Here are a few tips when setting up your kitchen for success:
- Limit your cooking tools, baking tools, and everyday dining to the essentials.
- Keep like items together
- Store less used items in higher cabinets
- Glasses can be stored near the dishwasher or sink for ease of putting them away
- Have knives and other food preparation tools stored in an island drawer or on a counter near your preparation area
- Store spices close to your food-prepping area or stove
- Keep cleaning products arranged neatly under the kitchen sink
2. Saves Money
An organized kitchen can indeed save you money. Knowing what you have on hand will avoid unnecessary purchases at the grocery store. We all have done it. Purchasing a product, you thought you were out of when you had two in the back of the cupboard, which will expire and be thrown away before you can use them.
Enjoying cooking and baking will not fall far behind this organization project. Takeout versus at-home cooking can be expensive, and if organizing encourages at-home meals, there is a saving in this method.
3. Reduces Stress
Days are already full of things we must think about, so why not find ways to eliminate unnecessary stressors? Knowing what you have, knowing where it is, and adding an aesthetically pleasing look to your drawers and cabinets will allow you to relax a little. Add a little joy to the kitchen, where you spend a lot of time each day.
9 Must-Have Kitchen Organizers
1. Expandable Drawer Organizer for Utensils
The addition of this drawer organizer expanded our storage. I moved the utensils to the island’s far side to a smaller drawer closer to the dishwasher. It is well made, and it can adjust to many drawer sizes. The bamboo makes the storage look higher-end. I recommend using this on a non-adhesive, non-slip shelf liner to avoid movement when opening and closing the drawer.

2. In-Drawer Knife Block
This is one of our favorite things. We never owned a good knife set, and after a recent purchase, we wanted to take care of them and have them close to where we prepared our food. This block fits the drawer perfectly and allows other cutting tools for things like pizza and vegetables. I recommend using this non-adhesive, non-slip shelf liner to avoid movement when opening and closing the drawer.

3. Spice Tray Drawer
I can’t say enough about this spice tray rack. I purchased the higher-end brand, made of steel, as I knew this was an investment. Other options are available; you can find all the details in my post, Organizing your Spices the Easy Way.

4. Lazy Susan
Adding products to a turntable to see what you have in the back of a cupboard is a must. Lazy Susan turntables are also a great adder to a pantry or refrigerator.

There are many brands, but the OXO pop-up containers have many sizes and are well-made. They were a recent adder to our pantry; read the full post on Pantry Organizers and Storage Ideas. You will find them in our post, Organizing under the Kitchen Sink.

7. Food Container Lid Organizer
The glass stacks nicely as we move from plastic to glass storage for our food, but the lids needed some organizing. This lid organizer holds large to small covers and can easily adjust to your needs. It was a great addition to this large drawer.

8. Junk drawer Organizer
Is it possible for our junk drawers to stay organized? I think that junk drawers will always need a regular overhaul. Tossing products in a junk drawer is expected, but an organizer will bring intention to the space. This product is heavy-duty and well-made. Adding this tray organizer to our junk drawer made a big difference.
